Setting Barriers to Distractions
Hi friends, it’s been a while without writing anything. And now here I am. Today I’m going to share how you can get rid of distractions and focus on your work or studies. Let’s dive into the main topic…

In the 21st century, people have tonnes of distractions that they don’t actually recognize. For example, social media. There are 4.3 billion social media users around the world. Many of them don’t really know what they are doing. Some use social media for business purposes whereas some are just only for seeking attention, though. Thus, attention becomes a currency these days.
It is undeniable that many people are trying to improve themselves and get rid of all social media -distractions- and trying to be more productive and more successful. So, the thing is, “how”? Some would say “I’ve tried many productivity tactics and never work out!” Here, I’m gonna share with you simple tactics.
№1 | Throw your phone away
Because of the advancements and the development of technology, we can now search and watch whatever we want and do whatever with just a click with our phone. You won’t disagree with me if I say “You first check through the social media as soon as you wake up from bed.” Right? Phones, tablets, and kinds of stuff like that become pretty much like our essentials, and yes, they really are. But how can we do what we need to do?
The first way is to give it to somebody who you are currently living with, it can be your mom, dad or sibling, whoever it is, just give it to him/her. And tell him that “You give me my phone back only after two hours from now.”
If you live alone or if there’s nobody around you, you can just put it far from your sight or place it somewhere that you can’t see or get it easily.
№2| Turn all the Notifications off
Open your phone, go straight into the settings, search notifications and turn all the notifications off, except for the apps that you think would be needed and emergency.
Apps like Facebook, Twitter have that algorithm which is so annoying. I think you already know that but anyway, it is that if you don’t use them for a while maybe a day or a week, a notification that says “Hey Gamaliel, you have 23 unread notifications” or “Hey John, your friend Mike started following Lady Ga Ga” like that, pops up. So, turn the notifications off.
№3| Do whatever comes to your mind instead of using your phone
Sounds pretty strange, right? Yes, it really has to be. Whatever here means not whatever but it’s actually whatever. I’m gonna go clearly.
First of all, the thing is that people tend to do their studies or work without actually preparing for it. They do it without focus. So, we should shift our mood into what we actually gonna do.
You can go and do your coffee or tea, whatever you want. It takes only 5 or 10 minutes. It’s totally worth it and it’s better than using the phone and looking at social media. You can also meditate for 10 minutes, it can be in any position; you can lie on the couch or sit in front of your desk for at least 10 to 15 minutes. Try it! After doing it three or four times, you’ll know what it turns out to be.
So, these are the tricks you can do when you are struggling with distractions. They are simple and you can do it much easier than other techniques, hopefully. Keep in mind that not everything has to be perfect.
Done is better than perfect.
